History & people
A domaine in context
Winedoctor reports that local documents place the Delaporte family in Chavignol since at least the seventeenth century, and that Matthieu Delaporte's great-grandfather Gabriel worked just 1.8 hectares of vines. The domaine, now 33 hectares, is run by Matthieu, grandson of Vincent Delaporte.
The BIVC credits Matthieu, since 2010, with herbicide-free soil work, lower yields and barrel vinification, and Winedoctor says he has separated out vineyards that his father and grandfather tended to blend. The domaine says it has picked entirely by hand since 2015, changed its harvest in 2018 to limit oxidation and was certified organic in 2023.
