History & people

A domaine in context

01

The domaine says the Prieur family has grown vines in Sancerre for eleven generations. The Guide Hachette names Paul Prieur as one of the first Sancerre growers to sell his wine in bottle, in France and abroad, and the importer Wines With Conviction says his son Didier took over in 1973.

Luc Prieur, Didier's son, has run the domaine since the 2012 vintage. Its red wines come from Les Pichons, a 5-hectare site the domaine describes as a near-monopoly planted in the 1950s from massal selections, and 2022 was its first certified organic vintage.
