A domaine in context

01

Winedoctor writes that Jules Fouassier took charge of the family vines in the late nineteenth century and rebuilt the domaine after phylloxera, replanting Clos Paradis in 1902. The domaine says Pierre Fouassier, a graduate of the Beaune wine school, joined his father Raymond in 1966, when the family owned 10 hectares, and that his younger brother Jean-Michel came back to the estate in 1971.

Each parcel has been vinified separately since the 1980s, according to the domaine. The cousins Benoît and Paul, the tenth generation, joined in 2000 and 2001 and now own the estate, which the domaine puts at 60 hectares. Its technical sheets cite Biodyvin certification from 2011 and Demeter from 2022.
